Why headroom matters
Streaming at 100% of your upload capacity means the first Discord call or cloud sync on your network causes dropped frames. Budget bitrate + 40% headroom. On Twitch, most channels cap around 8,000 kbps; YouTube transcodes everything, so higher bitrates are safe there.
When in doubt, drop fps before resolution
For slower content (chatting, strategy), 1080p30 at a healthy bitrate looks better than a starved 1080p60. Fast shooters justify 60fps — then consider 936p or 720p60 on weak connections.
